VOLUNTEER DUTY DESCRIPTIONS

Greeter/directional
Welcome the public to the Chocolate Festival. Provide directions and answer questions. Post will be at the front entrance next to the ticket takers. Volunteers for this position should be friendly and energetic. Festival hours only. 3 needed per shift.
Volunteer check-in
Check-in volunteers during each shift and have them sign in. 1 needed for pre-festival hours 7:30 am, 2 per shift needed during festival hours.
Exit Survey area
Distribute/Collect surveys – Provide exit surveys to all festival attendees. Encourage all attendees to complete and return survey. Festival hours only. 3 needed per shift.
Floaters
This position will assist where needed. Provide additional assistance to busy vendors or other areas in need or provide breaks to volunteers. Festival hours only. 2 needed per shift.
Silent Auction Area
Observer
Monitoring auction area. Answer questions. Festival hours only. 4 needed per shift.
Auction set up/tear down
Assist auction chair with set up and tear down of raffle area. Pre and post festival hours only. Friday 5:30pm – 7:30 pm, Saturday 7:30 am – 8:30 am, 5 pm – 7 pm. 4 needed Friday. 2 needed Saturday am, 4 needed Saturday pm.
Chocolate Sculpture area
Set-up/tear down
Assist sculpture chair and chefs with set up and tear down of chocolate sculptures and stage area. This is a pre and post festival position. Hours 7am – 9am and 6pm – 7 pm. 2 needed.
Chocolate Sculpture helpers
This position will be in the chocolate sculpture area to guard the sculptures and answer questions about the sculptures, voting and the awards ceremony. Also may be asked directional questions. Festival hours only. 3 needed per shift.
Demo Stage
Stage helpers
Assist chefs with set up and tear down prior to each food demonstration. These are pre, during and post festival positions. Pre festival shift is 8am – 9am, all shifts during festival and post festival shift from 5 pm – 6 pm.
2 needed per shift.
Kids Area
Kids Stage helpers
Kids Stage chair set up and tear down prior to each performer. This is a pre, during and post festival positions. Pre festival shift is 8am – 9am, during is all shifts (see volunteer form) and post festival shift is 5 pm – 6 pm. 2 needed per shift.
Carnival Game Helpers
Volunteers assist children participating in a variety of
carnival games. Festival hours only. 5 - 7 needed per shift.
Dunk Tank
Volunteers will provide the balls to the dunkers and towels to the dunkees. Volunteers will also assist before and after festival with set up and break down. 4 needed per shift.
Pottery Painting Helpers
Provide assistance to pottery staff. 5 needed per shift.
Chocolate Fountains
Volunteers will assist festival attendees with (2) chocolate festival fountain sampling, replenishing pretzels, marshmallows, etc. Assistance also will be needed before and after festival for set up and break down. 8 per shift.
Vendors
Vendor relief
Provide vendors with breaks as needed. Will staff their booth as they leave for restroom or food breaks. Festival hours only. 3 per shift.
Vendor load in/out
Assist vendors with set up and tear down of their booth. This is a pre and post festival position - Friday 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Saturday, 5:30 am – 8:30 am, and 5pm – 7 pm. 4 needed Friday. 4 needed Saturday.
